Nature of AI-Generated Content
EngineeredIQ uses large language model (LLM) artificial intelligence technology to assist in drafting Functional Design Specifications and compiling downstream artifacts. AI- generated content is produced based on data entered by the user and patterns learned during AI training.
AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, outdated information or inaccurate references to engineering standards. It must not be used without review by a qualified engineer.
Mandatory Review Requirement
Every EngineeredIQ-generated document must be reviewed and approved by the engineer of record before it is:
- Provided to a client
- Used as the basis for any recommendation, compiled artifact or deployment
- Relied upon for any compliance or safety purpose
- Stored in any official record
Standards References
EngineeredIQ references engineering standards (such as ISA-88 and IEC 61511) in generated specifications. These references are AI-generated and may not reflect the current version of the standard, the correct clause or the correct application to the specific situation. The issuing engineer must verify all standards references independently.
Compiled Artifacts
Tag registers, I/O declarations and PLC sequence code compiled from a locked specification reflect the data entered by the user. They are not independently verified against physical equipment, wiring or site conditions. The issuing engineer must verify all compiled artifacts before deployment.
Sequence Engine: PLC Logic Specifically
Sequence Engine compiles the process and interlock logic described in a locked specification into PLC ladder logic (start permissives, shutdown sequences, interlock rungs) for import into Studio 5000 or an equivalent programming environment. Every routine it generates carries a visible “ENGINEER REVIEW REQUIRED” marker and must be reviewed, validated and tested by a qualified Controls Engineer before it is deployed to a controller. The generated logic reflects the specification as authored. It is not verified against the physical controller, existing program structure, wiring or commissioning conditions.
Safety-rated logic is categorically excluded, not just discouraged. Sequence Engine does not read or write the specification’s safety functions section, and any interlock or condition matching a recognised safety pattern is excluded from generation and flagged for the engineer to author manually instead.
Perspective Engine: SCADA Screens Specifically
Perspective Engine generates Ignition Perspective symbol templates and an overview screen layout from the same structured specification data, targeting Ignition Perspective 8.3 and later. What it produces is structure and layout only: symbol templates and a screen arrangement. It does not connect any symbol to a live PLC tag, does not verify a tag path against a real controller and does not test the screen against live process data.
A qualified Controls Engineer must wire each symbol to its live tag, verify that binding against the actual PLC program and test the resulting screen before it is used to operate equipment. Perspective Engine removes repetitive screen- building work; it does not produce a commissioned HMI.
Not a Certified Deliverable
No EngineeredIQ-generated document constitutes a certified engineering deliverable, compliance certificate or professional engineering sign-off under any jurisdiction’s law. Only a suitably qualified and registered engineer can issue such certification.
