The problem

Scaffolding gets you structure. It doesn't get you logic.

A base scaffold compiles tag structures and routine placeholders. Every state machine, permissive and interlock rung inside those routines still gets built by hand, from memory, project after project.

Sequence logic reinvented every project
The same start/stop/interlock pattern gets hand-typed into ONS, TON and OTL rungs from scratch, project after project, with no shared source of truth to compile it from.
No consistent review process
Hand-written rungs get reviewed unevenly, if at all, against the Functional Design Specification. A permissive shape that works in one program drifts in the next.
The FDS and the PLC program diverge
The interlock matrix says one thing. The rung someone typed at 11pm before commissioning says another. Nothing catches the mismatch until it's live.
How it works

Generated from the loop data you already confirmed.

Sequence Engine is a separate, optional step after your three ScaffIQ checkpoints. Decline it and your compiled L5X scaffold generates exactly as it always has.

State machines, from your confirmed loops
Every confirmed I/O mapping and AOI selection from your three checkpoints becomes a real state machine: idle, running, fault and every transition between them, generated as actual EQU/MOV rungs, not a placeholder.
Interlocks and permissives, cause to effect
Every interlock condition compiles straight from your confirmed cause and effect tags: a real XIC/OTL rung, traceable back to the specific tag pair it enforces.
Alarms, as comparison rungs
High/low/deviation alarms compile as real GEQ/LEQ comparison rungs against your confirmed setpoints, not a note in a spreadsheet for someone to implement later.
Review and sign-off, every time
Every generated rung is presented for review before it's included in the compiled file. The engineer of record confirms, corrects or declines it. Nothing ships without that sign-off.
What Sequence Engine doesn't do
It never writes logic by guessing
Every rung compiles from a confirmed tag, mapping or setpoint you already reviewed. Nothing is inferred from a device name alone.
It's not AI-generated
Sequence logic is compiled deterministically from structured data, the same output for the same input, every time. No language model touches a rung. See real generated output →
It doesn't ship unreviewed
Generation is a separate, optional step with its own review and sign-off. Decline it and your base ScaffIQ scaffold is completely unaffected.

User Specs & Requirements

What you need to run Sequence Engine.

Nothing to install. Sequence Engine runs entirely in the browser, as part of ScaffIQ.

Modern browser
A current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. JavaScript and cookies must be enabled, both are required for sign-in and for the compiler itself.
Reliable internet connection
25 Mbps or faster recommended. Parsing, checkpoints and compilation are all live calls, there is no offline mode.
Studio 5000, for opening the output
Sequence Engine produces real rung logic inside a .L5X file. Opening, reviewing and downloading it into a live project needs Rockwell's own Studio 5000.
A credit card with sufficient available funds
The project licence fires once, on your first compile. Held on file via Stripe, charged automatically, no manual invoice step.
A desktop or laptop screen
The rung visualizer and checkpoint review screens are built for a real screen. They are not optimised for a phone.
Qualified engineers only
Sequence Engine is built for qualified engineers (Controls, Process Control, Systems Integration, EI&C or Applications), not as a substitute for one. The Engineer of Record must review and authorise every generated output before it reaches a live system, accepting full professional responsibility for the result.
