EngineeredIQ’s Position
EngineeredIQ is a software provider. EngineeredIQ does not hold an engineering licence or professional registration in any jurisdiction, does not provide engineering advice and does not issue certified deliverables. EngineeredIQ’s liability is limited to the operation of the software platform as described in the Terms of Service.
Engineer’s Position
The engineer who uses FDSIQ remains the issuing professional for all documents generated using the platform. The engineer’s professional indemnity insurance covers their professional activities, including the review and issuance of documents prepared with AI assistance.
Recommendation: Notify your professional indemnity insurer that you use AI-assisted drafting and compilation tools for specifications and control system artifacts. Most modern PI policies accommodate AI-assisted work provided the professional retains review and approval responsibility.
Reducing Your Exposure
- Always review. Never distribute an FDSIQ document without reading every section
- Verify standards references. Check clause numbers against the current standard
- Verify compiled artifacts. Check tag registers, I/O declarations and sequence code against site conditions before deployment
- Use the edit feature. Correct anything that doesn’t reflect the actual project
- Keep the disclaimer. Do not remove the AI disclaimer from generated documents
- Maintain records. Keep copies of all Projects and documents you issue
Regulatory Compliance
Engineering licensing, registration and compliance requirements vary by jurisdiction and discipline. It is the engineer’s responsibility to ensure that their use of FDSIQ complies with the regulatory requirements of their jurisdiction, including any requirements regarding the form and content of Functional Design Specifications and control system documentation.
